Meet the Artist: @jumisart

Hello everyone!

Today we have a fun interview with @jumisart !

When we saw their art, we immediately fell in love with their style. We had the amazing opportunity to animate a piece. Below is the image we animated. (To see actual animation go to our page)

This interview will be our first bilingual interview! Responses will be in both Spanish and English.

Below is our interview:

1. What is your IG account? Do you have any other social media accounts for your art?

@jumisart. Por el momento solo tengo Instagram.

For the moment, I only have Instagram.

2. What was the first art piece that you remember impacted you and inspired you to make art?

When I was a child, I was obsessed with Disney’s The Little Mermaid. I would draw mermaids all day.

3. When do you realize you enjoyed making art or when did you start making art?

I love drawing. I lose track of time when I start an illustration.

There is no phase in my life where I have not drawn.

4. What style of art did you start off with and is it the same today? What else have you tried? What are your favorite styles of art?

I always drew in a traditional art style. But a little less than a year ago, I started doing digital art. I am still growing and trying new styles.

My favorite style is storybook type art for kids with pastel colors that include endearing characters.

5. What is your process like making a new art piece?

I have a list of future illustrations. Every time I think of something, I jot it down. Additionally, I sometimes ask my followers what they would like for me to draw next.

I always look online for inspiration including poses, colors, characters, styles, etc. I make a quick sketch on Photoshop and then I start to add details to it until it looks like what I imagined.

6. Which is your favorite art piece you have made and why?

It is hard to choose one. I have so much love for this illustration of Belle.

7. When did you decide to start a social media account for your art? Were you nervous? Excited?

It was in September of last year. I was very insecure. Little by little, I have been able to meet other artists and followers that motivate me to keep going.

8. How has your experience been with your social media account(s) for your art? What are the positive outcomes? Is there any negative outcomes?

My experience so far is good, but I just started.

The best part is getting recognition and the opportunity to share your art.

The worst would be some of the “internet trolls” and their comments.

9. What advice would you give any artists out there who are considering sharing their art on social media?

You must do it now! It is worth it!
