Meet the Artist: @akramness

4. What style of art did you start off with and is it the same today? What else have you tried? What are your favorite styles of art?

This is going to be long answer, but if we are going all the way back like this, then, I used to draw animals and Pokemon as a kid. I did a lot of OC stuff for Pokemon and Yugioh.

Then, in middle school, I was drawn to graffiti work; particularly I loved the vibrant colors – I think that still shows up now and then in my work.

Afterwards I rediscovered anime and immediately shifted to doing fan art of characters I liked. That was when I found my love for drawing cute girls.

At that time, I also started doing my own semi-realistic styled fantasy inspired characters; something I still enjoy and go back to often. I went on doing that kind of work for a long while before I finally decided to get serious with my art career and start studying to become better at it.

Going back to the fundamentals led me to do realistic portraits studies. This has been my recent trend but within that I’ve experimented with different takes like hyper realism, abstract and more traditional aesthetics like oil painting and watercolor. Recently I’ve been itching to have another crack at fanart and original fantasy art so I’ll take my work there and see what happens.
